Day 21: Base Camp -
Last night we celebrated the last supper at the Base Camp with a spicy menu.
Tonight we stayed awake to beat the snow from the tents, abundant snow that fell all night and caused damage: it has broken several tents, including that of Fabio.
This morning we got up (not wake up) with about 20 cm of fresh snow at Camp 2 are 1.5 m of fresh snow and heavy (from news of the Austrian alpine skiers who fell from that field). We dare not think how much snow will be at Camp 3 and the top! We
in Kashgar, where does the Karakorum Highway.
Tomorrow we will visit the city, which we say is beautiful. We still
a day of rest here, before tackling the 1400 km to return to Islamabad and then take the plane back home at last.
The initial disappointment, due to the surrender of the summit, was mitigated by the fact that weather forecasts were right from the day we decided to go down to Base Camp we have always had bad weather. Monday
the descent from Camp 2 other ski mountaineers has been made in the midst of the storm.
Today, after breakfast, we packed up and we went to Subash where we waited for the bus to take us to Kashgar.
It was strange to see the camels sitting in the snow waiting to be uploaded to our barrels, of the ski bag and other bags. We done to reverse the street for about 15 miles and then take the bus, in about 4 ½ hours, we arrived in Kashgar, also taking a hailstorm.
Here it is hot and we finally washed her going!
We are very pleased with our experience!
