Day 29: Islamabad Day 28
morning we waited for a long drive because everything begins to Islambad late!
The city is relatively young: 45 years old and is made in square fields, a bit 'as a "naval battle" (g4 - f7 etc).
had to visit the mosque, but we were not allowed to enter because we had shorts. The mosque, since the city is newly built and architecturally modern.
We reached the Margalla Hills to enjoy the view, but being the very hot day, with high humidity, haze, and then there was poor visibility.
went down from Margalla Hills we went to see the Rawal Lake: a beautiful brown water!
Then we are dedicated to shopping.
At the end we went to eat Afghan: skewers of meat, rice and some vegetables, a little spicy and a little spicy but good. Classical
visit to the carpet shop and then ritono to retirement, where we waited for the representative of the agency: there were to be completed the paperwork for shipping cargo via the material. There's a lot of bureaucracy in this country and are not very flexible.

: Besham -
.
If the stretch-Karimabad Besham was interesting, impressive and at times shocking, what might be called the Islamabad-Besham hallucinogens: the edge of the road grows uncultivated marijuana!
We greeted the Indus River and the landscape suddenly changes: there is more vegetation and the road is the soul of people
vehicle traffic becomes increasingly chaotic and began to experience the city.
Abbatobad to arrive where we end up the KKH and take the leadership in Islamabad, where we arrived after eight hours and a half away, a bit 'more relaxed than yesterday, but you still feel tired!
guess we are staying in a house complete with a bodyguard at the door, now we are in the pension.
Tomorrow is a scheduled meeting with the representative of the agency and after a brief visit to Rawalpindi.

Islamabad Day 27: Karimabad - Besham
morning departure from Karimabad. Here we go ... with a boost because the bus would not start, luckily we were slightly downhill!
We greeted the people of Hunza, really helpful and friendly (a little 'less than the dealers) and we took the road to Gilgit.
Leaving the green valley of Hunza, the landscape changes and becomes debris. Once again we see the Nanga Parbat, Gilgit. We meet the Indus River flowing beneath us to not less than 100 meters: silty, impetuous and minacciaso. Scenery, great! We arrive at Chilas
after 7 hours of travel, room type wedding in half an hour away (this time without pushing) at a time of Besham.
Chilas After the landscape is almost desert. Once in
Dassu change the way side and climbs on it and there are about 300 meters above the river Indus, always a peak on it. We arrived in Besham after 14 hours of travel, we waited for dinner and finally go to rest.

Day 26: Karimabad
Alarm, hearty breakfast (we are worried because we do not eat and no activity and then we put on pounds to kilos), tours of the town of Karimabad.
The day began with the sight of fort (castle) Baltit of Karimabad (800 years old). It 'similar, but smaller, the Potala in Lhasa, the religious and administrative headquarters building of the Government of Tibet, which stands on the rock. The visit was Velca, but interesting: there are suppelettili and the rooms where the king lived in both summer and winter.
After the visit has started shopping, we thought to deal in China, but the people of Hunza like our Genoese are quite drawn to the prices!
Something we bought, but not much, maybe we'll make in Islamabad or Rawalpindi, where we spend the last day before taking the plane.
We look forward to being at home, because we know what to expect Tomorrow: Twelve hours of bus, hopefully, to get to Besham.
Today we met three students (two Italians and a Spaniard), who have a scholarship to catalog plants and forest trees in Pakistan. They leave for home on July 30 and stayed here a month like us, sleeping in a tent is the University of Padua, which finances the project lasting three years.
For us it is now time for dinner, then prepare a backpack, a shower, then sleep.

Day 25: Tashkurgan -
China this morning greeted us with a grudge: it was raining. The waitress greeted us with a grudge (it's the nature of the Chinese not to be so expansive, in rare cases we have found some people who smiled and was nice). Keeping
Kunjerab, 4700 meters above sea level, already done the first leg, it was snowing mixed rain.
to rest, the first country in Pakistan, we found waiting for Sarwar, the guide who accompanied us on the outward far. There has been a surprise and has once again invited to his house, where we offered albiccocche of sweet and two types of chapati (bread: one type to another type Crostolo pancake).
Along the way we found a row of cars, a truck had broken down in a stretch a bit 'special and has formed a queue on both carriageways (so to speak), but we did not wait long to pass. We also met a column of cars in the following two newlyweds who went to celebrate in our own hotel, on the roof of their cars were the drummers and other musicians!
We arrived in Karimabad, but the arrangement is different from the first leg. The hotel is not bad but it is old and not very nice. In
hotel this evening, there was dinner on the wedding and all the rooms were occupied, including the dining room. We have proposed to dine on the terrace, but we decided to dine in a private room in the Pakistani fashion: sitting on the floor! We ate well and then.

Karimabad Day 24: Kashgar - Tashkurgan
Today we left Kashgar, we stopped in Subashi to retrieve your bins and bags for skiing and now we are Tashkurgan, where tomorrow complete all the paperwork to leave China. We passed under the Mutzaghata: has the clouds on top, the sky is leaden and the snow is falling to the bottom!
The two days in Kashgar we were just demolished!

Day 23: Kashgar
Yesterday we did the official tour of the city of Kashgar and we visited a few mausolea and the mosque (the area is populated only by people Uighur, a Muslim Turkic ethnic group).
while visiting the mausoleum of a prophet we met Goretta Casarotto (Renato Casarotto's widow), who was traveling along the Silk Road.
We are still in Kashgar as we anticipated the downhill from the base camp for a day due to bad weather, so pause in this city for a day longer than expected.
We spent the day like this: around the city alone, with a further visit to the bazaar and lunch in a place frequented only by locals, since from the point of view of hygiene left much to be desired, but two dumplings stuffed with meat and two skewers Sheep = o, 50 € (!), afternoon rest.
Tomorrow we leave to go to and the day after Tashkurgan finally left China for the trip back to the first leg. Today

Day 21: Base Camp -
Last night we celebrated the last supper at the Base Camp with a spicy menu.
Tonight we stayed awake to beat the snow from the tents, abundant snow that fell all night and caused damage: it has broken several tents, including that of Fabio.
This morning we got up (not wake up) with about 20 cm of fresh snow at Camp 2 are 1.5 m of fresh snow and heavy (from news of the Austrian alpine skiers who fell from that field). We dare not think how much snow will be at Camp 3 and the top! We
in Kashgar, where does the Karakorum Highway.
Tomorrow we will visit the city, which we say is beautiful. We still
a day of rest here, before tackling the 1400 km to return to Islamabad and then take the plane back home at last.
The initial disappointment, due to the surrender of the summit, was mitigated by the fact that weather forecasts were right from the day we decided to go down to Base Camp we have always had bad weather. Monday
the descent from Camp 2 other ski mountaineers has been made in the midst of the storm.
Today, after breakfast, we packed up and we went to Subash where we waited for the bus to take us to Kashgar.
It was strange to see the camels sitting in the snow waiting to be uploaded to our barrels, of the ski bag and other bags. We done to reverse the street for about 15 miles and then take the bus, in about 4 ½ hours, we arrived in Kashgar, also taking a hailstorm.
Here it is hot and we finally washed her going!
We are very pleased with our experience!

Day 19: Camp 1
Tonight it snowed. We are closed in a tent because the weather is nice, other ski mountaineers coming down from Camp 2 because it is impossible to climb.
We're here to do nothing. Sleep another night at Camp 1 tomorrow and if it is still bad, we go down.

Yesterday we went from Camp 1 to Camp 2, where we slept and where we failed to update you. The weather was bad and we walked with 20 kg backpack.

In the last two days it snowed, our skiing was, by 6800, but 6,000 m in 20 cm of powder snow, and up to 5,000 meters in the snow beautiful mixed. Now we are at the base camp where the cook has prepared us even omelets.
Our program includes two days of rest.
We are all well, we are well trained.

Base Camp Day 13: Base Camp - 12 Day
We woke in the middle of the snow, which continued to fall throughout the morning, even though it melted away.
We started at one o'clock in the afternoon from Base Camp to Camp 1 again.
The ascent took place smoothly and without effort, a good sign: it means that this installment we acclimated well!
We prepare dinner and then sleep early.

Day 7: Base Camp
Yesterday, when we set off on their way to Base Camp after 30 km we were subject to passport control. The landscape is lunar, only flowing water is green. The van quickly rises, we are at 4,000 meters. Finally, in front of us, left and right we see the Muztagh chain Pamir. Arriving at the starting point for the base camp locations are attracted to our material and in particular the closure of some bins. We offer rice, bamboo, egg with tomatoes, almonds, raisins, and of course tea. We walk for 20 miles (635 vertical meters). We arrive in just over three hours, we assemble the tents (some problems because of lack pieces). We eat! It's cold, the storm is upon us.
Today's hot.
Tonight we cooked us pasta and grain, "tastes of home."
Now it snows.
